For the first six games, the Suns were ranked sixth in points per possession, which they finished fourth in the Eastern Conference. They've shot 57.9 percent, fifth among all teams, in that stretch. It was a good idea to keep the old stadium, I think.

I remember the opening speech before we left in September 2005. We were a few metres from it and it didn't get much better than that. We just felt we had to do something.

We talked about the need for a major revamp for the old stadium – that people could get on with things because we'd see improvements, improvements in training and in the quality of players they had around them. And, I think, most fans were on the same page.

What changed was the tone of footballing debate. I'd never seen it go this way in football in my whole life.

You'll see the changes happen, I would hope. And they will have a huge impact because they will build support and draw people to the game in new ways.

At Everton I was in charge of some of the bigger clubs and I remember getting calls from people saying: 'I miss the days of sitting behind an assistant manager', to take up the role at some level. That never really took hold here because the atmosphere in the dressing room was so good.

I'll remember them as the days when we weren't allowed to make any major decisions, and in my head, I remember a sense of pride because the manager of the day was saying things like: 'No to change – we've got to stay focused for the next four years'.

So now, back to my story. In an effort to make sure my new "hacks" would work, I used an exploit I saw on the Net and made it work on the Gameboy. I wanted to show the Gameboy to someone and I was having trouble finding someone to have the Gameboy. If I didn't have a Gameboy, it would be hard to tell who is who because of the different color games the Gameboys have. It also became apparent there are only a handful of Gameboys on the market. When I went on the Internet looking for help, I found a company that made a series of hacks to allow you to customize the Gameboy to your liking. He called it RetroTech.com.

Now, I am going to explain exactly what I did and why I decided to do this. The first thing I did was go online and look for someone that worked in the field of gaming and read the articles that were online that showed a certain Gameboy in a particular color. I found a guy called Ryan and got him to send me a script that would turn it off for me so that I could take the Gameboy and change what is showing. I did a simple text program that would change the black screen. Then, once I had this, I went to an IBM computer and loaded that script. I set the System to read everything it read, so that everything would be shown at 100 percent transparency.

Now, I wanted to make sure I could work on that first piece because the reason it was only 100 percent transparency was because there were some problems that would occur during the development process. First, it would not render the screen. Secondly, because I was creating an image file, the game would have different resolution. Therefore, there were going to be different resolutions for the Gameboy, but the difference would be so minor it would only be slight. Third, the image would not scale correctly. Finally, the Gameboy would not appear as it should. Now, that's right, it was not showing the intended image. I wanted to show the image in real time so people can see exactly what is being displayed on the screen.

I knew there was something wrong with the Gameboy, so I set this script to load a backup image. I started in a blank Gameboy but then saved an image of all of the black text that I had written. I wrote a small text program that would create the image. I used the program that Ryan had provided to create the file that I received in the mail a few days later. I had written the text to be a copy of the picture that I had sent.

I then converted the script that I had created to a color script that I woul
